Use, Care and Warranty
How To Maximize Lifespan of Your Effium Cookware
Use soft, plastic or wooden utensils in the pan (and not sharp/metal objects).
Wash the pan by hand, lukewarm water, soap and a soft sponge (and not in the dishwasher).
Cook at suitable heat and always add oil or butter to the pan to prevent overheating. (Smoking oil or burning butter signals overheating. Never overheat the pan or leave it empty on the stove).

Cooking
RECOMMENDATION TO AVOID WARNING OF YOUR COOKWARE:
- Never leave empty cookware on a hot burner - this can permanently damage your cookware and hob.
- Do not allow cookware to boil dry.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR ENERGY SAVING AND BEST COOKING AND BAKING RESULTS:
- Cook on a burner that is similar in diameter to the cookware you have selected.
- Adjust the flame so that it does not flare up at the sides of the cookware.
- The non-stick coating distributes heat very efficiently, so heat settings are important.
- Lower heat settings save energy and minimize charring of food and oils.
- Always use the correct heat settings for your ingredients.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USE IN THE OVEN:
- The cookware is oven safe up to 250°C.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR BEST NON-STICK PROPERTIES:
- Always start with clean cookware. Allow your food to come to room temperature before cooking.
- Preheat your cookware for a few seconds on low to medium heat before adding a little oil or butter for optimal cooking.
- Wear and tear on your cookware and the non-stick coating is normal. Over time, the non-stick coating of your cookware will naturally diminish. This process is accelerated by prolonged exposure of the non-stick coating to high temperatures, which causes food and oil to carbonize.
- This durable cookware can still be used if the non-stick coating on your cookware has worn off, but you will need to use more butter or oil.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COOKING OILS AND FATS:
- We recommend using oil or butter that is suitable for baking and frying (i.e. oils with a high smoke point).
- Check the label on your butter or oil to ensure it is suitable for cooking.
- Do not use oil sprays, including aerosols, mist and pump sprays.
UTENSILS:
- To prolong the life of your pan, you can use plastic or wooden utensils.
- However, the coating is not resistant to sharp objects or cutting (e.g. with forks and knives).
Maintenance and Cleaning
- Allow the cookware to cool and clean thoroughly after each use.
- The non-stick coating makes your cookware very easy to clean. To maintain the non-stick performance of your cookware, it is recommended to wash it in warm, soapy water, rinse and towel dry. Non-stick coatings can be destroyed in the dishwasher due to the high salt content, bleach and phosphates in some detergents.
- Aluminum rims or rivets may discolor in the dishwasher, but this will not affect the performance of your cookware.
- Do not use sharp steel wool or nylon scouring pads.
- Do not use nylon cleaning brushes, as these can damage the non-stick properties.
- Deposits (also called carbonization) can form on the non-stick coating as a result of prolonged exposure to high temperatures while cooking with fats and oils. High temperatures can carbonize oil and fat, which can accelerate the loss of non-stick performance. If this happens, discard any loose food, partially fill the pan with warm water and bring it to a rapid boil. The food can be easily wiped away with a soapy sponge.
- For more stubborn burn marks we recommend a melamine foam sponge, available from most supermarkets, department stores and hardware stores.
- Do not use oven cleaner, abrasive cleaners or products containing chlorine bleach. Do not scratch the non-stick surface.
- Keep your hob and cookware free of dirt so that accidental scraping over the hob does not scratch it.
STORING COOKWARE:
- Storing cookware next to sharp metal objects can scratch or chip the surface of the non-stick surface and the rim of the cookware. Always assemble your cookware carefully and do not store lids with thin, sharp edges next to your cookware. We recommend pan protectors.

Recycling & Disposal
You have 3 options:
- You can return the pan to Effium BV for re-use. We will then try to give the pan a new life. This is the most sustainable choice.
- You can hand in the pan at the scrap metal trade, then you know for sure that it will be recycled.
- You can throw the pan in PMD or residual waste, then there is a good chance that it will be recycled. The best thing to do differs per municipality.
